Idrissou is his name – from the first moment I met him in the hotel independence in Ouaga I felt this kind of friendship, is very rare in this world full of people whos only aim is to be sucessful, rich and important. Idrissou is not very known in the world of cinema, but he has a certain importance, a man full of love and You can see this love in his films, which are more than love films – You can feel he loves the people working together with him. I like this excellent cinematography, this nice noice. Not one minute in his films his characters obtains this normal behavior normal people expect. Everybody is allowed to speak in his individual manner and the most important thing is that he is not lying to his characters. ARLIT is the opposite of fast film, is slow film, and the expectator has really 90 minutes to live with the characters of Idrissou and the moment the film is finished, You can say, Yes now I became also a friend of all these people in the film. At the end of the film I am happy about new friendships Idrissou made possible. Therefore I gave my card blanche to this master of documentary, who gives a documentation the spirit of great cinema and I feel that Idrissou knows a lot about film and cinema. Some aspects from classical films like Hitchcoks thrillers, then pictures like in Italo Western from Sergio Leone, and so on. The expectator can discover himself. I was brought together with this wonderful cineast by my friend Friedrich Engelhardt from Goethe Institut Abidjan. And he brought me together with Idrissou because he was convinced that will be the beginning of a miracolous friendship. So ARLIT made a trip from Abidjan to Ouaga and from Ouga to Innsbruck and from there ARLIT reached nice port of Izola.
