Med najbolj utrujenimi prostovoljci je gotovo urednica Dnevnega otoka Nika Bohinc. Spat ne gre pred tretjo uro zjutraj, ob sedmih pa je že v press centru pripravljena, da skupaj z lično ter kot iz škatlice vzeto oblikovalko Metko Dariš v tisk spet spravi novo številko časopisa. Sicer je takrat Nika res videti kot da ji z deadlineom prigovarja smrt, toda kljub vseemu ohranja svojo izjemno notranjo lepoto. Med projekcijami filmov nehote zaspi, a je vseeno še vedno ljubka, ker pri tem ne smrči. Vsi hvalijo lokalne primorske medije, češ kako dobro pokrivajo festival. Nad nacionalnimi se pa vsi zgražajo. Programski svetovalec Koen van Daele priznava, kako mu listanje nekaterih slovenskih dnevnikov redno pokvari sicer sončna jutra. Npr.: v Izoli se je mudil Cannesu nagrajeni Apichatpong Weerasethakul, pa se je komaj kdo izven festivalskih krogov zmenil zanj. Nil Baskar in Jurij Meden imata teorijo, da je to zato, ker ni Američan, ni bel, ni jasno ali je iz Tajske, Tajvana ali Tunguzije. Povrh vseega ima pa še težko izgovorljivo ime. So, that's Izola - you can fit it in a borough of my hometown and nobody would notice the change; and yet, I'm utterly incapable to get the hang of it, the lay of the land (probably to small for me...). But nice, very nice, pretty relaxed, just the kind of place to watch great films and feel fucking guilty about it: the call of the beach... but we're good little cinephiles, so we'll have joy, we'll have fun, we'll have seasons in the dark ... ramblings and ruminationsa festival diary by olaf möller
So, that's Izola - you can fit it in a borough of my hometown and nobody would notice the change; and yet, I'm utterly incapable to get the hang of it, the lay of the land (probably to small for me...). In such a strong competition, independent Indian filmmakers have a hard time surviving.
