Prvi festival Kino Otok je med drugimi lani gostil tudi tajskega režiserja Apichatponga Weerasethakula. V Izolo je pripotoval naravnost iz Cannesa, kjer je za Tropsko bolezen prejel nagrado žirije. V minulem letu je Apichatpong, za prijatelje Joe, obiskal vse pomembne filmske festivale po svetu, z retrospektivo igranih in dokumentarnih filmov gostoval po Ameriki in Franciji, predaval je v Rotterdamu in medtem pobral še nekaj nagrad.
